Abuja is set to host a high-profile gathering of young leaders, civil society actors, media practitioners, and tech innovators as PROMAD, a civic innovation organisation, announces a one-day Hybrid Youth, CSO, and Media Roundtable on Youth, Technology, and Development.
The event is part of the Strengthening Participation, Accountability and Transparency in States (SPATS) initiative in North Central Nigeria.
According to PROMAD’s Communications Officer, Joseph Akujuobi, the roundtable would explore how technology-driven ideas from young people can transform governance, boost transparency, and accelerate development across the region.
“This is about creating a space where youth voices meet civic innovation and public institutions to find practical solutions that work for everyone,” he said.
The Founder and Executive Director of PROMAD, Daisi Omokungbe, said equipping young people with digital tools for civic participation is critical for building accountable and inclusive governance in Nigeria.
“Young people aren’t just beneficiaries, they’re drivers of innovation and change.
This roundtable brings them together with media and civic actors to show how tech can make governance more transparent and participatory,” Omokungbe said.
The hybrid event will include keynote speeches, panel discussions, civic tech demonstrations, and breakout sessions designed to generate practical ideas for strengthening youth engagement and digital innovation in governance.
PROMAD is also set to unveil its new AI-powered civic tech tools, which participants can use to track public projects, engage in participatory budgeting, and monitor government accountability.
With participants expected from youth organisations, media houses, government agencies, universities, and the tech ecosystem, the roundtable would offer both physical and virtual attendance to encourage broad participation.
Media professionals are also expected to benefit, gaining fresh angles to report on youth-led innovation, technology for development, and civic accountability.
Youth leaders, journalists, civic tech innovators, students, and public officials are invited to register via Zoom at https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/ZmAxYGxaQZi5Jua6knBGhg
