A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) figure and former gubernatorial aspirant, David Sabo Kente—widely known as DSK—has revealed that he is facing increasing pressure from political and socio-cultural groups in Taraba State to contest the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking during a phone conversation with journalists in Jalingo on Tuesday, DSK shared that the calls for his candidacy are coming from a broad spectrum of stakeholders who believe in his leadership capacity and track record.
Despite his party affiliation, DSK disclosed that he set aside partisan interests in 2023 to support the election of Governor Agbu Kefas, prioritizing the state’s stability and unity.
However, he expressed disappointment over what he described as a lack of meaningful progress under the current administration.
“The sacrifices I made and the support I gave were genuine, but unfortunately, the government has not lived up to expectations in its first two years,” DSK said, pointing to what he sees as a disconnect between the promises made and actions taken.
A former Director of Finance at the National Assembly, DSK had previously resigned from his role as a Commissioner on the Board of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) to pursue his 2023 governorship ambition.
As political activities begin to stir ahead of 2027, all eyes are now on whether DSK will heed the mounting calls to throw his hat into the ring once again.
