Victor Tale, the Captain of Super Sand Eagles said he would like the COPA Lagos beach soccer tournament to make a come back in 2022.
He said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
NAN reports that the eight edition of the COPA Lagos beach soccer tournament held in 2019 before the coronavirus pandemic, with Senegal winning for the second consecutive time.
“I know the pandemic was responsible, but I have missed playing and I believe my teammates have too.
“I believe we will have another tournament most likely in 2022; hopefully it
will be back for better,” he said.
Tale said the world was beginning to live with the pandemic, so he expected the organisers to find a way around it, taking all COVID-19 measures into consideration.
“I know with adequate planning, I believe we will have a successful tournament as long as the organisers and sponsors give it their best shot,” he said.
When asked if the death of the team’s coach, Audu Adamu Ejo, would not hinder the team should the tournament hold in 2022, he said the best way to immortalise the coach would be to stay winning. (NAN)
