
Scene of an explosion

An explosion on Sunday rocked the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, in Owo town, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State capital.
It was learnt that some worshippers were feared killed, while others were seriously injured as a result of the incident, which occurred in the church premises while the mass was going on.
A source said the incident caused pandemonium in the area as residents in the neighborhood of the church ran for safety.
Meanwhile, The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Mr Oyeyemi Oyediran, has deployed officers of the Explosive Ordinance Device Unit ( anti bomb squad) to the scene of explosion in Owo Local Government Area of the state.
The CP said efforts were being intensified to arrest those who perpetrated the evil.
“The command is aware of the attack at Owo, we will give you the full details of the incident later.
“We want to implore the people of the state to be calm as all security apparatus are currently active to ensure peace in the area,” Oyediran said in a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Funmilayo Odunlam.
