Hon. Danladi Jatau
By DANJUMA JOSEPH, Lafia –
As the 6th assembly prepares to wind down to usher in the 7th assembly, member representing Kokona West constituency, at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Danladi Jatau, has said he is more experienced and competent to be the next speaker.
Hon Jatau, who won his re-election for the third term in the recent elections, said this when answering questions on phone on a live popular program called ‘Matters Arising’, on Option Radio 92:3 FM Akwanga, Nasarawa State.
He said he was a councillor, a member of the 4th assembly, later 6th assembly and now by the grace of God, member of the 7th assembly and that gave him the edge over other aspirants.
“I, was a councillor, an elected member of the 4th assembly, then later 6th Assembly and now a member of the 7th Assembly, apart from holding other political offices previously”
“I, know power comes from God, but as it stands at the moment, I am more than experienced and qualified to be the speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and if given the opportunity, I will give my best by God’s grace” he said.
Recalled that based on the political zoning arrangements of the state, since the current governor is from Nasarawa North, Deputy from Nasarawa South, the position of the state assembly speaker goes to Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone of the state.
On that note, the current speaker of the state assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, who is also seeking third term as a speaker is from the Nasarawa Western Senatorial Zone.
Hon Jatau, who is slugging it out with the current speaker and the majority leader of the house also from Kokona East, Daniel Ogazi, are all from Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone.
