The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Sokoto Zonal Command has secured a 5-year jail term for Sanni Dikko and Naabu Umar for conspiracy and cheating.
Giving his verdict on the two count charge, Justice Mohammed Dogondaji of the Sokoto State High Court convicted and sentenced the duo to 5 years imprisonment or a fine of N200, 000 each with an order to pay N1, 500,000.00 as restitution to the victim through EFCC or risk a further five years in prison.
The journey of the duo towards imprisonment began when Dikko allegedly connived with Umar to fraudulently obtain the sum of N1, 500,000 from one Mustapha Mudashir in a land deal.
Unknowing to Mudashir that the said land never belong to the sellers, he was stopped by the actual owner while in the process of developing the said land.
The issue was brought before EFCC and investigation the economic and financial crimes commission revealed that Dikko had previously sold the plot of land to one Ashiru Muhammed, hence brought Umar to present himself as the owner of the land to convince Mudashir to buy the property at the rate of N1.5m.
