
In a significant stride towards community empowerment, Hon. High Chief Canice Moore Nwachukwu, the Member representing Orlu, Orsu, and Oru East Federal Constituency, initiated a four-day Skill-Up Bootcamp from January 29 to February 1, 2025, in Orlu Local Government Area, Imo State. This zonal intervention project successfully trained over 350 women and youth, equipping them with valuable entrepreneurial skills to foster self-reliance and economic growth.
Bootcamp Overview:
Day 1: Theoretical Sessions
Participants engaged in comprehensive theoretical sessions covering the fundamentals of various trades, including soap making, perfume production, disinfectant formulation, and barbing. These sessions provided a solid foundation, emphasizing the principles and techniques pertinent to each craft.
Day 2: Practical Sessions
Building upon the theoretical knowledge, participants partook in hands-on practical sessions. Under the guidance of certified trainers, they applied learned concepts to real-world scenarios, honing their skills in product creation and service delivery.
Day 3: Rest and Assignments
A day designated for rest allowed participants to assimilate the acquired knowledge. They were also given assignments to reinforce learning outcomes and encourage critical thinking and problem-solving within their chosen trades.
Day 4: Product Exhibition, Assessment Reviews, Graduation, and Cash Presentations
The final day featured an exhibition where participants showcased their products, demonstrating the skills they had acquired. Assessments were conducted to evaluate their proficiency, followed by a graduation ceremony. Each participant received a certificate of completion, a startup kit, and a cash grant of twenty thousand naira to support their entrepreneurial endeavors.
Dignitary Remarks:

Hon. High Chief Canice Moore Nwachukwu, in his closing remarks, lauded the organizers and participants for their dedication. He stated, “This initiative exemplifies our unwavering commitment to uplifting our communities by providing essential skills and resources to our women and youth. Empowering our people is paramount to fostering sustainable development.”
Ambassador Kenneth Anetor, the project consultant, who played a pivotal role in coordinating the program and hosting key dignitaries, reflected on the initiative, remarking, “This program aims to equip our participants with the skills and resources necessary for financial independence. We are proud to witness the enthusiasm and determination of everyone involved.”
The Chairman of Orlu Local Government Area also expressed his appreciation for the program, noting its positive impact on the community and the potential for sustainable development.
