Ogun State Government has announced that the final burial rites of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, will hold today, Monday, July 14, 2025, at 4 pm.
The revered monarch, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 91, will be laid to rest at Ogbagba Court, Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, “The burial will take place today at Ogbagba Court, Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, at exactly 4 pm.”
Talabi also urged residents of the state to remember the family of the revered traditional ruler in their prayers ¹.
The late Awujale, who reigned for over six decades, was known for his commitment to promoting unity and progress in Ijebuland. His legacy will be remembered for generations to come.
President Bola Tinubu had in his condolence message on Sunday, described the monarch as “a towering natural ruler” who served his people with honor, dignity, and wisdom.
The President also noted that the monarch’s contributions to education and good governance will never be forgotten.
The Ogun State Government has urged residents to pray for the repose of the Awujale’s soul.
