Scene of petrol tanker explosion
A collision between two fuel tankers in the Dan Magaji Area along the Zaria-Kaduna Expressway in Kaduna State led to an explosion, resulting in four persons being injured and hospitalized.
The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on a Monday morning.
Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Zaria, Nasir Falgore, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Kaduna.
“When we arrived at the scene, it was only the two tankers that were involved in the accident. There was no any small car involved,” Falgore said.
One of the tankers was loaded with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), while the other was empty.
According to Falgore, preliminary findings revealed that the LPG truck allegedly rammed into the empty fuel tanker, resulting in an explosion.
Three persons in the empty tanker and one from the LPG truck sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Falgore stated that there were no deaths reported from the accident as of the time of filing the report.
The unit commander debunked involvement of a car or any other vehicle in the accident, emphasizing that only the two tankers were involved.
“We arrived at the scene, it was only the two tankers that were involved in the accident. There was no any small car involved,” Falgore said.
