President Bola Tinubu has boldly declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government’s decade-long leadership was pivotal in preventing Nigeria from falling apart.
Speaking on Tuesday in Owerri during the unveiling of a new book titled “ _One Decade of Progressive, Impactful Leadership in Nigeria,”_ Tinubu praised the party’s ten years of governance for stabilizing the nation.
Addressing attendees at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, the President highlighted how the book, authored by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, “captures the collective efforts and sacrifices of progressive minds over the last ten years, starting from the era of the late President Mohammadu Buhari.”
Tinubu commended Governor Uzodimma for his vision and dedication, saying, “By documenting our milestones and struggles, he has given Nigeria a priceless gift. No nation can afford to forget its journey, and no leader should shy away from embracing the confidence that comes with progress.”
Reflecting on the country’s current economic standing, the President expressed optimism:
“Nigeria is no longer where it was a decade ago. Our economy grew by 4.23 percent in the second quarter. This isn’t just numbers on paper — it’s real growth. Inflation has dropped to 20.12 percent, the lowest in over three years. I urge Nigerians to be patient; the better days are coming.”
He also noted that Nigeria’s foreign reserves hit $42.03 billion, the highest since 2019, and praised the country’s rising trade surplus and export figures.
“Our manufacturing exports surged by 173 percent, showing a Nigeria that is producing, exporting, and competing like never before,” Tinubu said.
Calling on critics to place trust in the progressive government, the President said, “The economy will work for all Nigerians. Reports of religious persecution are unfounded; what we have is religious harmony.”
Governor Uzodimma, in his remarks, described the book as “an honest account of APC’s journey from 2015 to 2025 — highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned. It’s both a reference for where we’ve been and a guide for where we must go.”
He credited Tinubu’s leadership as a driving force behind the APC’s successes, calling him “the arrowhead who united the progressive family and led the country through crucial transitions.”
Uzodimma added, “Our party was founded on values of equity, inclusion, service, and discipline — values that continue to shape our progress.”
National APC Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatsa praised the book and the leadership it celebrates, describing Uzodimma as “the stabilizer and conscience of the progressive journey,” and applauding Tinubu for ushering in “a new era of bold decisions transforming Nigeria’s economy.”
The event closed with Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the Obi of Onitsha commending the book as a significant contribution to Nigeria’s political history.
