Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has thrown its full weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, endorsing him as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The declaration was made on Saturday in Talata Mafara during a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting that brought together top APC leaders and supporters from across the state.
According to reports, the endorsement was sealed through a voice vote involving ward leaders from all 14 local government areas.
Senator Abdulaziz Yari (APC–Zamfara West), who led the call for the endorsement, said the decision reflected the people’s confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and ongoing reforms.
“Our people are satisfied with President Tinubu’s direction. He has demonstrated commitment in addressing key challenges, especially insecurity and banditry affecting the North-West—Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Katsina in particular,” Yari said.
The motion for Tinubu’s endorsement was moved by Senator Sahabi Ya’u (APC–Zamfara North) and seconded by Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu (APC–Bungudu/Maru).
Yari further appealed for unity among APC members in Zamfara, stressing that internal cooperation was vital for victory in 2027. “We must close ranks, strengthen our bond, and ensure the APC remains strong and united as we prepare for 2027,” he urged.
He also assured party supporters that he and Dr. Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, were working closely to address the lingering security and developmental challenges confronting the state.
The meeting drew a large crowd of party heavyweights, including three serving senators, current and former members of the House of Representatives, former deputy governors, ex-Minister of State for Finance Alhaji Bashir Yuguda, and several past commissioners and advisers.
Also in attendance were state, local government, and ward executives of the APC, reaffirming their loyalty to the party and President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
