Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas displaying his APC membership card at the Government House, Jalingo
Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Sunday formally sealed his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), receiving his official party card in a low-key but symbolic exercise at the Government House in Jalingo.
The registration drew a notable gathering of political leaders across the state, including the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena; former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abel Peter Diah; and Hon. Danladi Baido, underscoring the significance of the moment.
Speaking shortly after he was presented with the membership card, Governor Kefas said the decision was guided by the broader interest of governance and political harmony in Taraba State. According to him, aligning formally with the APC would strengthen cooperation and ensure a more unified political direction for the state.
“This step is in the best interest of good governance and party unity in Taraba,” the governor said.
He explained that although plans for a grand defection ceremony had earlier been scheduled for November, the event was postponed due to prevailing national security concerns. The governor assured party supporters that a new date for the larger ceremony would be announced in due course.
“For now, this registration enables me to fully participate in APC activities while we await the announcement of the main event,” Kefas added.
The development marks a significant political shift in Taraba State and is expected to reshape party dynamics ahead of future political engagements.
