Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf have expressed deep grief and outrage over the gruesome killing of a mother and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters of Kano, describing the incident as senseless, barbaric and unacceptable.
In a post on his official X handle, Atiku said he was devastated by the tragic incident, noting that the continued violence against innocent Nigerians raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of security directives. He wrote:
> “I am heartbroken by the gruesome killing of a mother and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi, Kano.
This senseless violence against innocent Nigerians is unacceptable. My thoughts and prayers are with the grieving family and community.
It is either the so-called marching orders to the security agencies are not being actioned or it is merely political talk.”
The former presidential candidate charged security agencies to act decisively, stressing the need to end the cycle of violence across the country.
According to him,
> “Security agencies are charged to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice and for decisive actions to protect every Nigerian from such brutality.
We must end the culture of violence and ensure safety for all.”
Similarly, Governor Yusuf described the killing as a brutal assault on human dignity and vowed that those responsible would not escape justice.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor mourned the victims and extended condolences to their family, the Dorayi Chiranchi community and the entire Kano State.
The governor prayed that Allah grants the deceased eternal rest and gives their loved ones the strength to bear the loss, stressing that the murder of a mother and her innocent children is unacceptable. He directed the Kano State Police Command to immediately hunt down the perpetrators and ensure their arrest and prosecution, warning that anyone found culpable would face the full wrath of the law.
Governor Yusuf also ordered the Kano Neighborhood Corps to intensify patrols and community surveillance across vulnerable areas as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots security and prevent a recurrence.
He urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies and promptly report suspicious activities, assuring that his administration remains fully committed to protecting lives and property.
