Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the top-performing candidates in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with a University of Lagos (UNILAG) aspirant emerging as the overall best scorer nationwide.
The announcement was made during the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions held in Abuja on Monday.
According to JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Owoeye Jesudunsin, an indigene of Ekiti State who sat for the examination in Ogun State, recorded the highest score in the 2026 UTME with an impressive 372 marks out of a possible 400.
Jesudunsin selected the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as her first-choice institution, where she intends to study Medicine and Surgery.
JAMB noted that her score falls slightly below the highest mark recorded in the 2025 UTME, where Anambra-born Chinedu Okeke emerged top with 375 marks.
Coming second in the 2026 rankings is Ikenna Enwere from Imo State, who scored 370 marks. Enwere applied to study Computer Science at Nile University, Abuja.
Ayomide Bamisile of Ondo State secured the third position with 369 marks. He chose the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), to pursue a degree in Software Engineering.
The release of the top scorers highlights the strong academic performance of candidates across the country as competition for admission into tertiary institutions continues to intensify.
