The Riyom APC Youth Council has endorsed the member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dalyop Chollom, for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group said the endorsement was based on what it described as Chollom’s performance, accessibility, quality representation, and commitment to the welfare of constituents.
Chairman of the council, Comrade Pam Daniel, alongside the Secretary, Comrade Patience Chaimang, announced the endorsement during a press conference held on Tuesday.
The youth council also reaffirmed support for the existing zoning arrangement between Riyom and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas regarding the House of Representatives seat.
According to the group, stakeholders at a joint meeting held at Jonggrand Hotel, Bukuru, on April 28, 2026, resolved that Barkin Ladi should retain the seat in 2027, while Riyom would take its turn from 2031 to 2039.
The council said respecting the arrangement would promote fairness, political balance, and peaceful coexistence between the two local government areas.
“As responsible youths who respect constituted authority and value peaceful political arrangements, we stand firmly by this resolution and call on all stakeholders to honour and protect the agreement reached,” the group stated.
The council noted that allowing Chollom to return for a second term would strengthen representation, help attract more federal projects, and ensure continuity of constituency interventions and empowerment programmes.
It further commended the lawmaker for what it described as efforts in youth empowerment, healthcare support, community engagement, and effective representation at the National Assembly.
The group maintained that Chollom had demonstrated capacity, responsiveness, and commitment to the needs of the people despite being a first-term lawmaker.
The youth council also called on political actors, party members, and stakeholders in the constituency to avoid divisive politics and prioritise unity and collective progress.
The group urged aspirants and political leaders to respect the zoning understanding already established by elders in the constituency in the interest of peace and stability between Riyom and Barkin Ladi.
