Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on Nigerians to complement their criticisms of government policies with practical suggestions that can help address the country’s challenges.
Speaking during his monthly media briefing in Abuja on Monday, Wike said government officials are not all-knowing and depend on citizens to identify problems and recommend workable solutions.
According to the minister, Nigerians should not hesitate to draw the attention of authorities to areas where they believe improvements are needed.
“You can call our attention. Make your own suggestions to the government. The government does not know everything. I’m human,” Wike said.
He explained that effective governance requires active participation from citizens, stressing that constructive engagement is more beneficial than simply condemning government actions.
The former Rivers State governor noted that public feedback can help officials make better decisions and respond more effectively to the needs of the people.
“It’s not by coming out to criticize and fault what the government is doing. Nobody has called my attention. What good citizens should do is to call the attention of the government,” he added.
Wike’s remarks underscore the importance of collaboration between government and citizens in addressing national issues and improving public service delivery.
