Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani has credited President Bola Tinubu with driving the rapid pace of infrastructure development in the state, saying the President’s support has been instrumental in the execution of major road projects and other federal interventions across the state.
The governor spoke over the weekend at Fillin Mallawa in Zaria while flagging off 11 road projects covering Zaria and Sabon Gari Local Government Areas.
He said the projects form part of his administration’s Urban Renewal and Rural Transformation Programme aimed at improving connectivity, boosting economic activities and enhancing the quality of life of residents.
According to him, the Federal Government has also approved major infrastructure projects for Kaduna, including the proposed Kaduna Light Rail, making the state one of only two beneficiaries of the initiative alongside Lagos State.
Uba Sani disclosed that the ₦1 trillion light rail project is expected to commence within the next two months, adding that contractors have already been mobilised to site.
He further announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mando-Birnin Gwari Road would be held within the next week, saying the Federal Government had released funds for the project.
The governor urged residents of Kaduna State to continue supporting the Tinubu administration, arguing that the President’s commitment to the state deserved electoral support in future elections.
He also appealed to the people of Zaria to re-elect the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and vote overwhelmingly for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on the newly flagged-off roads, Uba Sani assured residents that the projects would be completed and commissioned within five months.
He described road infrastructure as a critical driver of economic growth, saying it connects communities to markets, schools, healthcare facilities and other opportunities.
He said his administration has so far initiated about 150 road projects covering more than 1,355 kilometres across Kaduna State, with most of them already completed.
According to him, the projects reflect his administration’s commitment to equitable development across all parts of the state.
Also speaking, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, said President Tinubu has demonstrated an unprecedented commitment to Kaduna State through the establishment and upgrade of federal tertiary institutions.
He noted that the President upgraded the Federal College of Education, Zaria, to a Federal University of Education and also established a Federal University of Applied Sciences.
Abbas further revealed that the President is considering upgrading Kaduna Polytechnic to a Federal University of Technology, a move he said would increase the number of federal universities in the state to five.
