
Newly inaugurated Borno ADC excos
African Democratic Congress (ADC), Borno State Chapter, on Sunday inaugurated its newly elected State Executive Council (SEC) members in Maiduguri, with party leaders expressing optimism about victory in the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration ceremony, held at Barwee Luxury Suites and Hotel, Maiduguri, featured the administration of oath of office and allegiance by Barrister Ularam Gadzama, while proceedings were presided over by Alhaji Musa Halilu, National Chairman of the ADC Electoral Committee for the 2026 Congresses, alongside elder statesman and national stakeholder, Matawalle Kashim Ibrahim Imam, and other top party officials.
The 2026 Borno State Congress Committee comprised Alhaji Musa Halik (Dujima of Adamas) as Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Zailani as Secretary, with Dr. Nicholas Msheliza, Hon. Bulama Fugu and Hon. Bukar Kachallah serving as members.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Musa Halilu disclosed that the congresses were conducted peacefully across the state.
He explained that elections were successfully held in 412 wards, where party ward executives emerged, while 27 Local Government Congresses also produced officials across 42 party positions.
Halilu further noted that the state-level congress and ex-officio elections were conducted smoothly, resulting in Hon. Kolo Bukar Kukawa emerging as the ADC State Chairman.
According to him, all positions were keenly contested and winners duly elected in a peaceful and hitch-free process.
He expressed appreciation to the elder statesman and national stakeholder of the party, Matawalle Kashim Ibrahim Imam, for his support throughout the exercise.
In his remarks, Matawalle Kashim Ibrahim Imam commended party members and stakeholders for ensuring a successful congress and inauguration across ward, local government and state levels.
He also thanked members of his polling unit for appointing him as their Chairman and congratulated party faithful for electing Hon. Bukar Kolo as state chairman.
Imam urged party members to remain united and committed ahead of the forthcoming elections.
He prayed for total victory for ADC in all elective positions and encouraged members to support party leaders in achieving the party’s goals in Borno State.
He further introduced party stakeholders seated at the high table and called on the newly inaugurated executive to carry all members along in running the affairs of the party.
Responding, the newly sworn-in State Chairman, Hon. Kolo Bukar Kukawa, expressed gratitude to stakeholders, national and state congress committees for conducting peaceful congresses at ward, local government and state levels.
He pledged that ADC would work towards victory in future elections across the country.
Kolo also assured that the party aims to form government at federal, state and local government levels, while appealing for cooperation and support from party members.
The new chairman noted that the state faces significant challenges, particularly insecurity, but expressed confidence that ADC would address them through effective governance.
He assured party members that there would be a change in leadership and governance in Borno State with the support of the people.
According to him, the party has already developed a recovery and transformation blueprint for Borno State, which would be implemented when the party assumes power.
Kolo further promised to deliver, citing his past experience as a former opposition State Chairman of the PDP, former Local Government Executive Chairman, and now ADC State Chairman.
Earlier, elder statesman Matawalle Kashim Ibrahim Imam again thanked party members for their support and urged them to remain united and committed to the new leadership.
He assured the new executives of his continued support to ensure the party achieves its objectives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration marks a significant step in ADC’s preparations for upcoming elections, as the party intensifies efforts to strengthen its structures across Borno State.
