Interim National Chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Sen. David Mark, has pledged to foster a sustainable economy and combat insecurity while ensuring inclusive leadership.
Mark, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Sen. Suleiman Adokwe, stated this on Wednesday, during the inauguration of ADC.in Karu, Nasarawa State.
He highlighted the party’s commitment to diversity, announcing an expansion of the Beijing ‘Accord’ to boost women’s representation from 35% to 40%.
He also emphasized youth involvement, noting, “Young people were also carried along, as many held leadership positions within the party’s national working committee”.
Stressing the ADC’s mission, he said, “ADC’s primary motive is to hold government accountable and ensure INEC conducts free, fair, credible, and transparent elections across the country.
He warned against Nigeria’s drift toward a one-party system, stating, “As Africa’s largest democracy, we cannot afford dictatorship or one-party dominance. Democracy requires credible opposition”.
Former Minister of Environment Mr. Mohammed Abdullahi reinforced the party’s vision, declaring, “Integrity is our watchword. From national to state level, leadership will be built on integrity. Our politics will be inclusive and people-driven”.
He promised that the ADC would prioritize affordable healthcare, education, and security, adding, “What we are doing here is mobilising the grassroots to take steps towards securing our mandate. Today marks the beginning of a national process”
Nasarawa State Chairman Mr. Williams Alaku and State Women Leader Mrs. Alice Ishaku also urged members to rally support for the 2027 elections, emphasizing the ADC’s coalition with parties like APC, PDP, and Zenith Labour Party to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape.
