IN their continued quest to bring banditry and all its nefarious activities to an end, the Nigeria Airforce on Monday bombed some locations in the forest of eastern senatorial axis of Sokoto state, killing many of the bandits.
Though there was no official statement on the number of casualties suffered by the bandits at the time of filing this report, it was however gathered that the operations were anchored on human and surveillance intelligence.
According to one of the Airforce officials at the Sultan Abubakar Sa’ad 111 International Airport, Sokoto, they are striking identified locations of bandits in the axis.
The Air Officer assured that they have reliable surveillance and human intelligence regarding the precise locations of bandits within the region of North West and North Central, adding that their operations were supporting the ground troops of the Nigerian security agencies in the fight against bandits and all other forms of criminal elements in these regions.
He also hinted that while in Sokoto, they have carried out early morning strikes on identified forest where these bandits are and have continued same bombardments to pound all the identified armed bandits locations.
While insisting that their Air strikes are intelligence led, the source no fears about hitting illegitimate targets.
He listed Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Sokoto and Niger amongst states where such operations are ongoing with the aim of bringing bandits to an end.
