Former minority leader of Adamawa state House of Assembly and former Secretary of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Wafari Theman, has said that the change slogan of APC his fomer party is dead and buried.
While answering questions from journalists in Yola at the weekend during a three days training he organised for journalists on good governance, he said that he left APC, a party he participated in its formation because the party has lost it ideological track.
He disclosed that APC was formed to reverse the undemocratic practices of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), but regreted that APC is now driving on the same lane of the PDP.
Theman, who was the former Adamawa state governorship aspirant on the APC during the 2023 controversial primaries of the party, commended President Bola Tinubu for his track records in Lagos State and his present achievements in reforming the economic sector.
“Nobody can challenge the records of Tinubu today in Nigeria, we have northern presidents in the past, but none give us ministry of livestock which is the main economic engine room of the northern region, but a Yoruba man gave north that ministry with a northerner from Adamawa state as minister”.
On why he abandoned APC for Social Democratic Party (SDP) , he said that his former party has lost ideologies that are compass of guilding the directions of political parties.
“We were crucifying PDP, but today APC is worse than PDP, I cannot remain in such political party because it is a ruling party, it is better I join a party that stand for democracy and rule of law”.he said
“When I think deeply on which party I should join I now remember SPD the june 12,1993 presidential election , the election was free and fair despite the Muslim-Muslim ticket, Nigerians were voting good leaders and not religion.”
“Today those that were merchants of Muslim-muslim ticket are the same people crucifying president Tinubu for the project they executed with delight, ” he said.
Theman pointed out that SDP remain the only party in Nigeria that still has political ideologies and have a blue print that can turn Nigeria to dubia in a short time.
