Determined to make peace, heal the wounds and strengthen the party for future elections in Benue State, the stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have called on all party’s members to work as a family to close rank and place the interest of the party above the interest of individuals and groups.
The party also called for cessation of all outward ventilation of grievances by members and urged them to channel their grievances inward.
Addressing a press conference in Makurdi on Tuesday, the stakeholders, whose text was read by Dr. Laha Zever also called on all PDP members to adhere to the authority of the laws in the spirit of party supremacy.
Dr. Zever who informed that the party was capable of resolving all disputes, insisted that all those that went to court without exploring the internal dispute resolution mechanism and those that publicized dispute in the Media should withdraw such actions.
The stakeholders warned all members of the party to adhere to the party constitution even when aggrieved and urged them to abide by section 58 of the constitution which prohibits going to court and publicising their grievances in the Media without exhausting the internal mechanism (Resolution modalities provided).
While congratulating those that won the ward and local government elections at the just concluded congresses, the stakeholders urged them to be magnanimous in victory and carry all along as they also cautioned those who could not make it to be sporting in their acceptance of the outcome of the exercise.
Zever informed that the umbrella was enough to accommodate the aspirations of the members for the various opportunities for elective offices.
They expressed confidence in the state caretaker committee led by Rtd AVM Napoleon Bali which has already assumed work and pledged the unalloyed loyalty and support to the committee.
