C/River elections: Ayade to fire political appointees who fail to deliver electoral wards

Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade has warned all political appointees to deliver their electoral wards or be shown the way out ahead of the governorship and state house of assembly elections on Saturday.

Governor Ayade gave the warning at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Center Calabar while speaking of the outcome of the National Assembly and Presidential Elections in the state.

The governor who was speaking through the state Chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC, Alphonsus Ogar Eba, said: “We have forgiven those who failed to deliver their electoral wards in the last presidential and National Assembly elections but this one, we will fire any political appointees who fails to deliver his or her ward within 48 hours”, he warned.

Eba also welcome the defection of the former majority leader of the Cross River State House of Assembly Hon.Alex Ebu from the PDP into APC with less than a week into the governorship elections.

The APC chairman also said following the Supreme Court decision cancelling the party primary for Yala 1 state constituency, the party had adopted the Labour Party (LP) candidate for Yala 1 state constituency for Saturday polls.

The Labour party candidate for Yala 1 state constituency, Odey Brion, expressed happiness that he was being adopted by the ruling party in the state and promised a good working relationship with the party.

It was alleged that some APC chieftain and some political appointees played anti-, party activities during the presidential and National Assembly elections in the Northern Senatorial district of the state where the Governor Ayade hailed from, leading to his defeat
