The Cross River State Government has expressed its determination to partnered the Chattered Institute of Personal Management’s of Nigeria (CIPM) to re-positioned the civil service for effective delivery of its mandate.
The state Head of Service, Mr Timothy Ogbang Akwaji disclosed this in Calabar during the 4th Conference of the Cross River State Branch/40th Anniversary of (CIPM).
Akwaji stated that the Institutes is one of the famous human resource management in the country and expressed the state government readiness to partner with it in the area of manpower training for its workforce.
“I am delighted to interfaced with you because I know the import of (CIPM). To share my thoughts, in the 21st century, we should not placed premium on machinery and other factors of production and exclude the human factors which is the engine room for growth and development”.
Akwaji who is a keynote speaker at the conference, said the Theme: Building Skills -Building People for Sustainability is very apt and timely as the country was facing series of challenges including lack of fiscal discipline.
In his welcome remarks , the President and Chairman of Council, Mr Olusegun Mojeed who was represented by Rev. Olakanmi Amoo Onidundu, said “As Human Relations (HR) practitioners, we should be preoccupied with focusing on identifying the required skills, competencies for excellence in the new world of work, identifying gaps in the current workforce and designing ways of driving economic and human capital growth through reskilling initiatives .
The State Chairman of CIPM, Nkereuwem Inwang, said the past forty years have been chequered years in the branch.
He promised to continue to project the organization to be the Institutes of choice for people’s management and promotion of excellence through value creation and optimization of human capital.
