Ondo State Government has announced that kidnappers found guilty in the state will face the death penalty by hanging.
The government also declared that buildings and facilities used by kidnappers will be demolished after following due process in court.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Kayode Ajulo, SAN, made this known at a news briefing after the State Executive Council meeting on Saturday in Akure.
“The penalty for kidnappers in the state would now be death by hanging after reviewing the law through the state House of Assembly,” Ajulo said.
He emphasized that the governor, being a lover of the rule of law, would ensure that due process is followed in court.
“The governor would not go the way it’s being done in other states, without following necessary court due process,”* Ajulo added.
The government also expressed concern over the spate of cultism in the state and vowed to take decisive action to address the situation.
The state has also approved several infrastructure projects, including the installation of 6,000 solar-powered street lights and the construction of several dual carriageways.
