
Professor Florence Obi is the first female Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar
PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Florence Obi has charged Nigerian youths not to sell their future to Nigerian politicians.
Professor Florence Obi gave the advise during the commissioning of the administrative block of the Youth Council State Secretariat, at the premises of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Cross River State Secretariat.
According to UNICAL Vice Chancellor, “Don’t look at their pockets as to what they have to offer rather insist on listening to their manifestos to be certain of the plans they have for you”.
Professor Obi, however, commended the youth body for waking up to the challenges and making a difference, and called on them to refuse being used as election thugs.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Youth Development and Skills Acquisition, Signor Omang Idiege has praised Governor Ben Ayade for being youth friendly and availing the youths the enabling platform to excell.
He also commended the Cross River State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) for her immense contribution to development in the State and for the maintenance of peace for an economically viable society, while calling on the youths to focus on unity, integration and respect for rule of law.
On his part, The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Cross River State, Dan Obo appreciated Governor Ben for always standing firm for the youths, adding that the step taken by the State Chapter of the NYCN is a proof that “you can find young people mounting offices of responsibility and with less pressure can get results effortlessly”.
He commended the past chairmen of the state council for added value at every stage towards the realization of having a functional state’s secretariat.
