
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has introduced the 2025 Budget Estimate of ₦471,134,093,541 to the Plateau State House of Assembly for discussion and approval.
Described as a “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability,” this proposal aims to improve the well-being and welfare of Plateau citizens while promoting sustainable development.
In his address, Governor Mutfwang reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering people-centered projects and programs that will have a direct impact on the lives of residents throughout the state. Structured to build upon previous achievements, the budget is designed to facilitate continued growth and development in Plateau State.
It includes a recurrent expenditure of ₦201,522,433,264 (43.46%) and a capital expenditure of ₦258,852,660,277 (56.54%). Emphasizing the importance of peace, security, and prosperity, Governor Mutfwang highlighted the necessity of consolidating the tangible gains already achieved.
He reaffirmed his dedication to revitalizing and transforming the state’s economy through impactful projects and initiatives that span multiple sectors.
Furthermore, the Governor noted that the budget adheres to the principles of the Fiscal Transparency, Accountability, and Sustainability (SFTAS) program, backed by the World Bank, to ensure transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in the budgeting process.
Incorporating input gathered from citizens during town hall meetings across all 17 local government areas, the administration has identified over 70 vital grassroots projects slated for inclusion in the proposed budget.
Governor Mutfwang also announced the launch of the Ward Development Initiative (WDI), which aims to enhance government presence in all 325 state electoral wards with targeted projects that address specific community needs.
“I appeal to the House for the swift passage of the budget to facilitate the timely execution of critical projects that will benefit our citizens,” stated the Governor. “All Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) have been instructed to actively engage in budget defense sessions and provide the necessary information for effective deliberations. Our administration is resolute in transforming Plateau State into a hub of peace, progress, and prosperity.”
The Governor expressed his gratitude to the members of the House of Assembly for their unwavering support since the commencement of his administration. He commended their understanding, humility, and maturity, particularly during challenging times, and reaffirmed his commitment to establishing a lasting legacy of hope and progress for future generations.
In response, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gabriel K. Dewan, praised the Governor’s steadfast dedication to the state’s development.
“This budget presentation arrives amid significant economic challenges. Nevertheless, we are confident that this strategic plan will stimulate growth, attract investments, and enhance the standard of living for Plateau citizens.
“The House remains committed to sustaining a collaborative relationship with the executive to navigate current economic difficulties and ensure sustainable growth and prosperity,” assured the Speaker.
