The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) is conducting a five-day field training exercise code-named “Exercise Camp Highland” for its final-year cadets.
The exercise, scheduled to take place from June 16 to 20, will involve gunshots and explosive activities in various locations within the Jaji general area of Kaduna State.
The NDA spokesperson, Maj. Mohammed Maidawa, urged local communities not to panic, saying, “We appreciate the understanding of the local communities and urge everyone to remain calm and vigilant while carrying out their normal activities.”*
He added that the cooperation of the communities was vital to ensure a safe and effective training exercise.
The exercise will take place in several locations, including Dadin Kowa, Fasahiya (Rugan Fulani), Dinki Village, and others. Residents may hear sounds of gunshots and explosive activities, but Maidawa assured that the training is essential for the cadets’ development.
“Your cooperation is vital to ensure a safe and effective training exercise,” Maidawa said, appealing for the public’s understanding and support during the exercise period.
