Suspected armed bandits on Monday invaded Ipojo Golden Estate in the Oke-Eri area of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, and abducted three members of the same family during a late evening attack.
The gunmen, said to be about 15 in number and armed with sophisticated weapons, reportedly stormed the estate around 7 p.m., forcefully entered the residence, ransacked the building, and whisked the victims away to an unknown destination.
Sources said the head of the family, Yesiru Badewa, was away on official duty when the incident occurred.
Reacting to the development, Badewa expressed deep concern over the condition of the victims, especially one who is reportedly ill.
“This has devastated us. One of those abducted is sick, and we are worried her condition may deteriorate in captivity.
“We appeal to the authorities and kind-hearted Nigerians to come to our aid,” he said.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the command had intensified tactical and intelligence operations aimed at rescuing the victims and arresting those responsible for the attack.
“The Ogun State Police Command is aware of the incident at Ipojo Golden Estate, Oke-Eri, Ijebu-Ode, and has intensified tactical and intelligence operations to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators,” the police spokesperson stated, assuring residents of the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
