Nigeria Police Force has announced a major breakthrough in the investigation into the killing of Bishop Chinedu Clarence James, with the recovery of the late cleric’s stolen Toyota Land Cruiser and the arrest of two suspects allegedly connected to the crime.
According to the Force spokesman, DCP Anthony Placid, the operation was carried out by operatives of the Anambra State Police Command after intelligence reports indicated that the stolen SUV was being transported to Onitsha for sale.
Acting on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, officers launched a coordinated intelligence-driven operation that led to the interception of the suspects.
Preliminary findings showed that one of the suspects allegedly reached out to his cousin in Onitsha to help find a buyer for the vehicle shortly after Bishop Chinedu Clarence James was abducted and killed in Delta State on May 12.
Police operatives reportedly arrested the suspects at the point where the vehicle was about to be sold, while the Toyota Land Cruiser was recovered as a key exhibit in the ongoing investigation.
The police further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down and dismantle the entire criminal network linked to the bishop’s abduction, murder, and the attempted sale of the stolen SUV.
