Igede youth frowns at extortion of poor people by enumerators

The Igede Youth Council (IYC) has condemned in totality the extortion of poor people by enumerators mandated by the Federal Government to collate primary data of residents in some clans of Igede that are yet to benefit from the government largesse.

The President of IYC, Comrade Andyson Iji Egbodo, who condemned the act in a statement on Monday, said he has received reports from different communities of Oju LGA of Benue State.

Comrade Egbodo, noted that some of the enumerators are colluding with community leaders to extort as much as N500 to N1000 from each of the poor people across the land before capturing their data.

He warned all enumerators and community leaders to desist from such acts before incurring the wrath of Igede youths.

According to him, he has reported the matter to all relevant security agencies, while assuring that any enumerator and community leader caught in the act will be made to face the full wrath of the laws.
