The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed readiness for the conduct of the Feb. 3 Sokoto State rerun election.

Mrs Hauwa Kangiwa, the state INEC Administrative Secretary, said this at a stakeholders meeting in Sokoto on Tuesday.

She stated that the re-run would hold in 18 Registration Areas (RAs) and 46 Polling Units (PUs) across the state.

Kangiwa said that the meeting was to inform stakeholders on the planned rerun in four Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state following a court order.

“This includes Yabo/Shagari, Bodinga North and Tambuwal West, encompassing one Federal Constituency and two state Constituencies respectively.

“As such it is imperative for us to give you relevant electoral statistics of those effected PUs, RAs and Constituencies as contained in the court order,” she said.

Kangiwa added that INEC had made adequate preparations for the delivery of all election materials to all effected areas, ahead of the election.

“INEC has meticulously prepared for the election in the manner it will be free, fair, credible and all inclusive to pass the test of acceptability.

“However, such will be only possible where all the stakeholders play their own roles as provided by laws of this country,” she stated.

She advised political parties to play by the rules for a successful election. (NAN)
