Former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami
Kebbi State House of Assembly has outrightly dismissed a petition by former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, which accused the state governor of bringing in political thugs and mercenaries.
At an emergency press conference in Birnin Kebbi, Speaker Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman labeled the allegations as “baseless, unfounded, and mischievous.”
He defended the state’s reputation, stating, “Kebbi has long been one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states. These claims are an attack not just on the government but on the good people of Kebbi.”
Usman further argued that the petition was a calculated move to “incite fear and tension” among residents and distract the government from its developmental efforts.
“Our politics is built on dialogue and democratic principles. These accusations lack any evidence and are purely malicious,” he asserted.
The Speaker emphasized that no security agency in Kebbi has reported any intelligence supporting Malami’s claims.
He urged residents to remain calm and called on security agencies to investigate the allegations thoroughly.
“If Malami is found culpable, he should face prosecution to deter others from spreading such falsehoods,” Usman declared.
