Mock accreditation: INEC assures of functionality of BVAS machines for general elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has assured Nigerians that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for use in the 2023 general elections would work effectively.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ekiti State, Prof. Ayobami Salami, gave the assurance while monitoring mock accreditation of voters in some selected polling units in Ekiti state.

At some of the polling units visited including Ward 10, Unit 15, Basiri and Ward 9, Unit 17, Okesa, Ado-Ekiti, Salami said that the commission had configured the machines to work without hitches during the elections.

He explained that the mock accreditation was to test the efficiency of the BVAS machines in readiness for the elections.

The REC also affirmed that in the forthcoming general elections, the votes of the electorate shall count, urging eligible voters to turnout en-mass to elect leaders of their choice..

Some residents, who participated in the mock accreditation exercise including Chief Adeola Fakorede, a community leader, at Okesa, Ado-Ekiti, expressed happiness over the efficiency of the BVAS.

Fakorede, however, implored INEC to ensure that the machines function well on the main election days.(NAN)
