In a surprise move, Africa’s mobile giant, MTN, has abruptly closed all its offices across the country.
The company broke the news to its customers via social media (X handle) stating, “Yello customer, please be informed that our shops nationwide will be closed today, 30th July 2024″.
While the reason behind the sudden shutdown remains unclear, sources suggest it may be linked to the recent unrest at MTN’s Festac office in Lagos. A group of disgruntled customers, whose lines were disconnected due to non-compliance with the NIN-SIM policy, stormed the premises, causing damage to the property.
MTN has redirected its customers to its digital platforms for support, ensuring uninterrupted service despite the physical office closures. The company’s swift response aims to mitigate any disruption, but the underlying issues driving customer frustration remain to be addressed.”
