Nasarawa Govt urged to review multiple taxation on hospitality industry

The Proprietor/CEO of OT Spot, a popular eatery centre at Abacha in Karu Local Government of Nasarawa state, Obam Thomas, has called on the state government to rescue the industry from prevalent multiple taxations and outrageous bills in the state.

He made the appeal on Thursday in Nasarawa, in an exclusive chat with NATIONAL ACCORD.

According to him, paying multiple taxes and outrageous bills to the state and federal government had worsened hospitality businesses lately.

Obam expressed dissatisfaction that the industry had experienced a serious downturn due to the these taxes, adding that even with the taxes, nothing on the ground to show in term of social amenities..

He added that the latest increase in fuel, diesel, and total lack of electricity supply in the country had also affected their businesses, and they are now on the verge of total collapse.

The young entrepreneur, who hails from Obi Local Government Area of Benue State, while lamenting the state of insecurity in Nigeria and Benue state in particular, appealed to security agencies in the country to step their information gathering in order to put an end to the ugly trend.

“Before now, kidnapping and other forms of insecurity was abomination to Igede nation, but now, it has become the order of the day.

“I appeal to our youth to live above board and engage in gainful venture rather than remaining idle only to be used as political thugs”.

He therefore called on representative of Igede Nation at all levels to collaborate with the traditional rulers to put and end to incessant cases of communal disputes and kidnapping so as to live in unity and harmony with each other.
