
Pioneer Chairman of CAN in Nasarawa State, Rev. Andrew Ahmadu Auta

Pioneer Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Nasarawa State, Rev. Andrew Ahmadu Auta, has died at the age of 95.
Rev Auta, a renowned Baptist missionary and the pioneer CAN chairman died on Friday in Jos after a brief illness, according to a family source.
He died at the eve of the burial of his successor, Bishop Joseph Masin, who died on the 28th of February, 2025.
Bishop Joseph George Masin, former CAN chairman, was the founder of Word of God Gospel City, Lafia.
Records had it that during their tenures as CAN chairmen, they were both known for their advocacy for peace and religious harmony in Nasarawa State.
On his part, Late Rev Auta, is well known in the state for a Christian radio programme, Christian questions and answers in Hausa (Shirin tamboyoyi da amsa na adinin Krista) on NBS (radio station) every Sunday by 8pm.
The reverend gentleman and a nonagenarian, who hailed from Mangu local government area of Plateau State, was the one who established First Baptist Church, Lafia, in the early 70s.
