Nigerian Government has initiated the evacuation of its citizens residing in Iran amid growing tensions across the Middle East.
Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, confirmed that officials are currently escorting Nigerians willing to leave Iran by road into neighboring Armenia to ensure their safety.

She explained that the evacuation is being conducted overland due to unsafe airspace in the region, which has temporarily restricted flights.
Dabiri-Erewa added that plans are already in place for repatriation flights once security conditions improve, allowing safe air travel back to Nigeria.
She reassured Nigerians living in the Middle East that the government’s evacuation team remains fully prepared to assist them whenever it becomes possible to return home.
