
Kaduna State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with alleged banditry and cattle rustling and recovered 65 cows believed to have been stolen in Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were arrested on January 10, 2026, at about 5:00 a.m., when operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out a sting operation in Kakura area of Chikun LGA, following credible intelligence on the activities of bandits and cattle rustlers.
Those arrested were identified as Ibrahim Shuaibu, also known as Magaji, and Buhari Ibrahim, both from Kakura; Musa Haruna from Gora; and Abdullahi Idi of Dan Damisa, Zaria.
Police sources said a search conducted during the operation led to the recovery of 65 cows suspected to be proceeds of cattle rustling.
Preliminary investigation revealed that two of the suspects, who claimed to be cattle rearers, confessed that the animals were brought to them by one Kyauta of Izuwa village, described as a notorious bandit.
The suspect, Kyauta, is currently at large, while the police have intensified efforts to track him down and bring him to justice.
The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, CP Rabiu Muhammad, psc, mni, commended the operatives for the successful operation and reiterated the Command’s resolve to sustain aggressive actions against criminal elements across the state.
He called on members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to aid the fight against kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities.
The Police Command assured residents of Kaduna State of its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property and prosecuting all suspects involved in criminal acts.
