Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani has constituted a high-level consensus committee on party harmonization and aspirants’ engagement as part of efforts to deepen internal democracy, strengthen cohesion among stakeholders, and sustain unity within the ruling party ahead of forthcoming elections.
The committee, according to a statement issued by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, is expected to promote mediation and constructive engagement among aspirants across the state.
Maiyaki explained that the initiative was aimed at fostering mutual understanding, political stability and consensus-building within the party in order to avoid divisions that could undermine its electoral fortunes.
He stated that the committee would interface with aspirants, party leaders and other critical stakeholders to facilitate amicable resolutions in constituencies where multiple interests and ambitions exist.
The commissioner added that the committee would also encourage voluntary withdrawals where necessary in the broader interest of party harmony, unity and electoral success.
According to the statement, the constitution of the committee reflects Governor Sani’s commitment to inclusive leadership, internal cohesion and the preservation of peace within the party structure.
The statement named the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Hadiza Balarabe, as chairman of the committee, while the APC State Secretary, Abubakar Rabiu, will serve as secretary.
Other members of the committee include the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Liman, the Kaduna State APC Chairman, Atiku Sankey, and the Secretary to the State Government, AbdulKadir Muazu Meyere.
