Vice President Kashim Shetima, is expected to pay a one day working visit to Nasarawa State on Friday, where he will lay the foundation stone for ‘one stop investment center’ in Lafia, the state capital.
During the visit, Senator Shetima, is also expected to flag off the distribution of 500 bags of rice and 2 tractors each to the 13 local government areas of the state and equally distribute relief materials to victims of disasters in the state.
This was disclosed by Commissioners of Agriculture, humanitarian affairs, Executive director state skills acquisition centre and DG of NASIDA, during a joint briefing held at NUJ press center on Thursday, in Lafia, preparatory to the VP’s visit.
The Executive Director of Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational Training Center, Lafia, Dr. Daniel Ewuga Asele, disclosed that the VP is expected to graduate a total of 1,128 persons who were trained on different skills from the center.
According to Dr Asele, out of the number, Governor Sule’s wife, Sullifat Abdullahi Sule, sponsored 130, Bishop Mathew Kukah, sponsored over 120 from Sokoto, wives of Nasarawa Assembly members sponsored 167, 100 persons sponsored self from Nasarawa, while 99 persons sponsored self from Oyo, Edo and Sokoto states.
On her part the state Commissioner of Humaniterian Affairs, Dr. Margret Elayo, said the VP will also flag off the distribution of relief materials to over 2000 families who were affected by natural disasters in the state.
On his part, the state Commissioner for local government affairs, who oversees the affairs of Ministry for Agriculture, Mohammed Oyige, disclosed that the VP will distribute 2 tractors each to the 13 local government areas and distribute 500 bags of rice to the people of the state.
He said the 500 bags of rice billed for distribution tomorrow is out of the over 1000 bags rice harvested from the 10,000 hecters government owned farm project in Agwatashi and Jangwa, while the remaining 500 bags will stored as seedlings against next farming season.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Nasarawa State Investmentand Development Agency (NASIDA), Barr. Ibrahim Abdullahi, also disclosed the Vice President, will lay the foundation stone of ‘one stop investment center’ in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
Government officials who spoke at the press briefing including Ibrahim Adra, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, gave the Governor Sule, a path on the back bringing the Vice President to the state to perform all these functions.
