2021 Floods: Bauchi to access N30bn World Bank grants – Official

The Bauchi state government is poised to access N30billion grant from the World Bank, to address the state’s myriad environmental challenges, Kabir Ibrahim, The Director-General of the state Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) has said.

Ibrahim told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview in Bauchi, on Sunday, that the state government would be expected to provide N1billion counter funding, before the bank releases the said amount for proper and judicious utilization.

He said the agency had commenced evacuation of heaps of sand which had covered some parts of Cheledi village since the last rainy season in Kirfi Local Government Area of the state.

the BASEPA helmsman explained that the flood that engulfed the twenty existing Local Government Areas was most severe in Kirfi hence the resolve of the government to solicit for the World Bank support.

NAN reports that during the last rainy season the 20 existing Local Governments Areas in the state were badly affected by floods causing loss of lives, property and damage to structures. (NAN)
