As the 2027 elections begin to take shape, former Ogun State Governor and current Senator representing Ogun East, Chief Gbenga Daniel, has urged Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.
Speaking during the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-Otunba Gbenga Daniel (BATOGD) Mid-term Community Assessment and Review Tour in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu East Local Government Area, Daniel said the Tinubu-led administration had made significant strides—especially in the solid minerals sector.
He highlighted the sector’s dramatic turnaround as a testament to the President’s bold economic reforms.
> “The mining sector under President Tinubu has received greater attention, and the revenue from solid minerals has grown from N6 billion to N38 billion in just one year,” Daniel said.
“This was made possible by the President’s bold declarations that the era of exporting raw minerals is over and that mining licences will only be granted to investors who commit to local processing and value addition.”
According to Daniel, this shift not only boosts revenue but also ensures more jobs for Nigerians and keeps the wealth generated within the country.
He called on residents of Ogun East and Nigerians at large to continue supporting the current administration, emphasizing that continuity in leadership at both federal and legislative levels is critical for achieving long-standing regional goals.
> “By God’s grace, President Tinubu will not disappoint us,” Daniel assured. “What we’re hearing is that one new state may emerge from each geopolitical zone. Continuity of the President and your representatives will make this dream a reality.”
Referencing regional ambitions like the Ijebu/Remo state creation and the proposed Ijebu Seaport, Daniel noted that political stability was necessary to bring such long-standing projects to life.
He clarified that the BATOGD tour was more than a political gathering — it was a grassroots feedback mechanism designed to assess federal projects and directly communicate policies to constituents.
Daniel also listed some of his constituency achievements, including an eye-care outreach that has benefitted over 4,000 residents across Ogun East.
He urged continuous collaboration with federal authorities and other stakeholders to fully harness the region’s natural and human capital for sustainable development.
> “This isn’t just about politics,” he added. “It’s about turning our natural wealth into prosperity for this generation and the next.”
