
FRSC rescue team at the crash scene

A devastating multiple-vehicle crash has claimed the lives of five people on the Ibadan-Lagos expressway.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Oyo Sector Command confirmed the incident, which occurred at Soka area on Tuesday.
According to FRSC spokesperson, Mayowa Odewo, the victims included a male child, one male, and three female adults.
“The victims included a male child, one male and three female adults,” Odewo said.
The crash involved seven vehicles, including three articulated trucks, two private cars, and two Nissan Micra taxis, which were severely damaged. Odewo added that four of the victims were deposited at the Adeoyo State Hospital mortuary, while one corpse was handed over to relatives with police permission.
An eyewitness claimed that an articulated truck attempting to reverse from an abandoned filling station collided with another truck, triggering the pile-up.
“An articulated truck was attempting to reverse from an abandoned filling station along the expressway when it collided with another articulated truck moving at its rear,” the eyewitness said.
