A private jet operated by Flybird made an emergency crash-landing on Sunday morning at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), sparking brief concern but ending without casualties.
The aircraft, which departed Abuja for Kano, was said to be on final approach to the runway at about 9:30 a.m. when the incident occurred.
Despite the tense moment, all 11 people on board — including three crew members — walked away unharmed.
An eyewitness at the airport described a swift response by emergency teams, noting that passengers and crew were quickly evacuated from the jet moments after it came to a stop.
“There was panic at first, but everyone was brought out safely. No one was injured,” the eyewitness said.
Airport operations continued under heightened safety checks, while officials began preliminary assessments of the aircraft.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities at MAKIA had yet to issue an official statement detailing what caused the crash-landing.
The incident, though alarming, ended on a positive note, with the safe evacuation of all on board underscoring the effectiveness of emergency response measures at the airport.
