
The Mambilla Badminton Club, Abuja has said the decision to travel to Accra, Ghana to engage the Accra Badminton Club in a two-nation tournament was strengthen citizens sporting diplomacy.
Leader of the Nigerian delegation and Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Badminton Club, Gabriel Gbayan in a statement said the tournament was also intended to strengthen regional integration and improve friendship between the two West African countries.

“We intend to re-enforce further understanding among the two countries in view of recent development in their relations,” Gbayan stated.
The Nigerian delegation, which was led by Gbayan and Brigadier General NS Eze of the Nigerian Army comprised of eight players including five male and three female players.
At the end of the games played at the TESANO Sports Club Accra, the Nigerian Club won the Female Doubles event while the Ghanaian side went home with the males doubles.
Both Clubs agreed to institutionalize the tournament to become an annual event to be rotated between the two countries.
