Air Peace Airline has announced the commencement of direct flights from Abuja to London’s Heathrow Airport on October 26, following a grant from the British authority.
Chairman of Air Peace Airline, Dr. Allen Onyema revealed this at a news conference on Wednesday in Lagos.
Dr. Onyema attributed the grant to the international aviation community’s confidence in the airline.
The flights will operate four times weekly, while Lagos to London Gatwick will be three times daily. Onyema also announced plans to add Congo, Gabon, and Brazzaville to its schedule before year-end and direct flights to the Caribbean, specifically Antigua and Barbados.
“We assure our passengers of on-time services,” Onyema said, highlighting the airline’s 85% on-time performance since May 12.
He attributed 94% of flight delays and cancellations to external factors like weather, infrastructure, and bird strikes.
The airline has 36 purchased aircraft and four on wet lease, with new additions expected soon, including Boeing 777 wide-bodied aircraft.
Onyema commended President Bola Tinubu and Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo for promoting ease of doing business in the industry.
The airline plans to restart its China route and expand regional and international routes. Onyema urged Nigerians to patronize and support the airline, saying, “The sector had never had it so good.”
