The Chairman of Akpabuyo Local Government Area (LGA) of Cross River State, Mr. Emmanuel Bassey, has expressed optimism that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would emerge victorious in the Akpabuyo State Constituency byelection..
Mr. Bassey have the assurance shortly after casting his vote on Saturday in his Idebe Poling Unit, Ikot Nakanda.
He commended the electorates for coming out en masse to vote in the byelection.
Also, a chieftain of APC and governorship aspirant, Arch. Bassey Ndem, said contrary to the false alarm raise by the opposition PDP, the election was very peaceful.
While, The Commissioner for Rural Transformation, Edem Okokon Effiom of Atimbo West Ward expressed gratitude to the Governor Beb Ayade and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the awareness created for the byelection.
Our correspondent, however, gathered that the election was generally peaceful in Atimbo, West, East , Ikot ndareke, Ikot, Nakanda, Ikot Ofiong Amba etc.
INEC staff and security agencies were on their duty post while the voting commenced as early as 8 AM in the morning.
