Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah
Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has reiterated that Enugu remains the safest state in Nigeria, despite propaganda from detractors.
Mbah made this statement during a courtesy visit from the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 13, Mr. Abayomi Oladipo.
According to Mbah, the state has invested heavily in security infrastructure, including the Command and Control Centre, AI-enabled cameras, and a special police unit, the Distress Response Squad, with over 150 security vehicles.
“Enugu is the most secure city in the country, unarguably, save for people who like to magnify things and believe that the security we enjoy in Enugu is disturbing them,” he said.
The governor attributed the state’s security success to his administration’s proactive measures and investment in capacity to solve crimes and bring perpetrators to book.
“We have put in place proactive measures and invested in capacity to solve every single crime and bring the perpetrators to book,” he emphasized.
The AIG, Abayomi Oladipo, commended Mbah for the notable improvement in security of lives and property in the state, saying, “I can tell you that what we have put in place is really working for us. I want to thank you for the support and your cooperation with the police and other security agencies in the state.”
Mbah’s administration has prioritized security as a key factor in attracting investment and growing the state’s economy.
“I was aware that my administration could not achieve the ambition to grow the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion and position it as the premier destination for investment, business, tourism, and living without security,” he explained.
