Former ATBU Director of Works shot dead by gunmen

Yet to be identified gunmen have shot and killed a former Director of Works of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Engineer Hassan Sabo Jama’are. 

 
The gunmen also stole his car after killing him.


NATIONAL ACCORD reports that this is coming less than 24 hours after two people were killed by yet to be identified gunmen who invaded Gudum Hausawa community, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis, the state capital.


A resident of the area who did not want to be mentioned told our Correspondent about the incident.


The resident who did not give much details only said that the gunmen trailed him from the Bauchi metropolis until they got to his house before attacking him. 


He said that the funeral prayers of the deceased will be held today, Monday at Ibn Abas Juma’at Mosque, BRC Quarters, Tudun-Tudun Salmanu, Bauchi by 1:00pm. 


The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the gruesome murder.


The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Ahmed Wakil, who spoke with our Correspondent in a telephone interview on Monday said the deceased was attacked and killed at about 10pm on Sunday while trying to enter his Tudun Salmanu residence in the Bauchi metropolis.

Wakil, a Deputy Superintendent of Police explained that “the gunmen had trailed him and when he got to his house and was about to open the gate when they attacked him and shot at him at a close range, seized his Honda Accord car keys and drove it away.”


He added that Jama’are managed to crawl into the house and his family raised an alarm which attracted neighbours to the scene, “the Police was informed and he was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor.”

He said that Police personnel were immediately drafted to the area while a trail of the attackers has began in earnest in order to apprehend them.
